The City manages its own public safety with 109 police officers and 67 firefighters, paramedics and harbor patrol officers.

There are fifteen parks, thirteen parkettes, a recreational waterfront featuring two miles of sandy beaches, the Redondo Beach Pier and King Harbor area, two libraries, five community centers and a 1,450 seat performing arts center.
