Community, Scholarship, Recreation
Our little town, just under 4 square miles and just over 35,000 residents at the last census, is a tight-knit community with something for every age and interest. In Garrison Keillor’s Lake Wobegon, “all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average.” We think we can boast the same!
Our two miles of beach, 48 acres of parkland (including the “greenbelt” chipway providing a shaded soft path for walking or running) not to mention the multitude of gyms, spin classes, yoga and pilates centers, provide endless fitness opportunities.
After a long day at work, unwind with a glass of your favorite beverage at one of the local watering holes on Manhattan Beach Boulevard while you watch the sun set, or take the dog for a stroll on The Strand. On many weekends, you will find a festival or celebration in which to participate, from Hometown Fair, to the December Fireworks, to Concerts in the Park and so many more! (Find more South Bay Events here, or visit The City of Manhattan Beach Event Calendar for more listings.) Strong smile muscles make everyone better looking!
Our Manhattan Beach Schools are award winning for their scholarship as well as their athletic prowess, making it easy to boast about our “above-average” children.
MAP OF MANHATTAN BEACH COMMUNITIES
The Sand Section’s allure is it’s proximity to the ocean and walking distance to shops and restaurants. The homes are nestled together, many on “walk streets” that provide the perfect venue for the neighborhood block party! Wake up to the sound of the waves, feel the ocean breeze, this is “beach living” at it’s best.
A picture is worth a thousand words!
With less than 250 beach front homes to choose from, this is the most selective part of town. Our wide beaches and sunny weather makes your home your oasis with the Pacific Ocean as your private playground.

A little farther from the hubbub of “downtown,” the Tree Section has slightly larger lots than the Sand Section, allowing for more room for house or yard. While this neighborhood has many streets named after trees, it is also protected by a Tree Ordinance, which lauds the aesthetic, environmental and climatic benefits of mature trees. Enough about the trees! We love the neighborhood feel of the Tree Section, the close proximity of the local elementary schools (allowing most kids to walk to school) and its many parks.
The Hill Section boasts breath-taking views of Los Angeles with the backdrop of the Angeles Mountains to the east, and the Santa Monica Bay to the west. The lot sizes in the Hill Section are larger still than the Tree Section, showcasing some of the most spectacular houses in Manhattan Beach.
Many of the Hill Section homes have an “upside down” configuration, with the bedrooms on the first floor and the living space on the second floor, in order to take advantage of the available views.
Manhattan Village is a secluded, guard gated area of Manhattan Beach, just east of the Manhattan Village Mall. The Village has 400 homes and town homes as well as a pool and several spa areas. It is a quiet community is close proximity to shopping and entertainment.
East Manhattan Beach
With its large lots and larger homes, East Manhattan is our best kept secret! Housing prices are lower in East Manhattan by virtue of it being the community furthest from the ocean (but closest to Los Angeles for all of those commuters!), yet homeowners enjoy the exact same “community, recreation and scholarship” as all the other neighborhoods.
